Death of a Club Member with a Historic Car.

Recently, our Club passed a motion at an executive committee meeting that confirms that when a member deceases during the Club’s financial year (January to December), he or she shall be considered as “financial” until the end of that year. This is important because the Department considers: ‘In the event a person passes away, any vehicle registered in their name will remain as registered until: The registration expires; or The vehicle is registered in another name.”

The consequence of our Club’s motion is that the vehicle can still be driven until either the registration expires or to the end of our Club’s financial year, which ever comes first. I know this clears up a rather grey area in the Code of Practice and will help at a time of grief and mourning. Any registered driver can still drive the car. This allows it to be used for funeral purposes, or selling the car, etc.

Inter-club Transfer
If a new member is undertaking an interclub transfer of their car to our Club, and therefore seeking Club Registration and a new logbook, please remember you must have your existing logbook cancelled first, by the club you are transferring from. We are required to confirm that your current book has been cancelled before we can issue you with a new one.

I would suggest you come and see us first, on a scheduled inspection Saturday morning, to allow us to inspect your car and discuss the transfer, before you resign from your current club.

Vehicle Purchased Interstate
All vehicles purchased interstate must undergo an identity check by the Department’s Vehicle Standards Branch, unless you reside in the country, where the local police can be contacted. We are required to record the MR29 form number issued to you that confirms the ID check, before we can proceed with the Club Registration process.
